Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - Land Commission Annuities.

Ivan Yates

Question:

142 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the present position in relation to outstanding Land Commission annuities for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who obtained land from the Land Commission; if there was any announcement in relation to small annuities being completed; and when the annuities will be completed.

In March 1989 I announced that about 70,000 annuities of less than £10 per year were being written-off as they had become uneconomic to collect.

As the annuity payable by the person named is greater than £10, his annuity of £13.86 has not been written-off and will remain payable until December 1995 when the final instalment is due to be paid. I would hope that, now that the person named knows the position, he will bring his annuity payments up to date.
