162 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the outcome of his discussions on the provision of advance factory facilities in Tuam town, County Galway, and the question of future employment prospects in the town.
The information sought by the Deputy relates to the day to day activities of the IDA and is not, therefore, a matter in which I have any direct function. I am informed by the IDA, however, that they are currently in discussion with private developers regarding the provision of a 20,000 square feet advance factory in Tuam. I am also informed by the IDA that they are affording Tuam special attention this year in the context of their activities to attract suitable manufacturing industry and employment to the town.
