Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Sligo School.

Edward Nealon

Question:

263 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the intentions of the Office of Public Works regarding the future of the building known as the Model School, The Mall, Sligo; in particular, if any negotiations are proceeding with any organisations or individuals about the use or the purchase of the building; and, if so, if she will give details thereof.

My Department, in consultation with the Office of Public Works are considering a number of options for the long-term use of Sligo former Model School building including the possibility of its being made available for the Sligo school project.

Recently the Sligo county manager raised with the Department the possibility of using the Model School building as a museum and this is being considered as well.

My Department have not entered into any formal negotiations with any organisations or individuals about the use or the future of the building.
