Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - School Appointment.

John Bruton

Question:

286 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education her views on whether the ban on a near relative of the manager being appointed a member of the school staff should be lifted, in view of the fact that such appointments are made by boards of management rather than by managers alone.

The ban referred to by the Deputy no longer applies since the introduction of detailed procedures for the appointment of teachers to the staffs of national schools as outlined in rule 23 of "Boards of Management of National Schools Constitution and Rules of Procedure". I will be happy to make a copy of the Rules of Procedure available to the Deputy if he has not already got one.
