Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John Connor

Question:

303 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education the schools, both primary and secondary, in County Roscommon where there have been adjustments or changes to the school transport system in the last two years.

All school transport routes, primary and post-primary, are subject to continuing review to ensure the most economic provision of services having regard to changes in pupil numbers and location from year to year. This involves frequent modifications of existing routes, many of a minor nature, a well as the introduction of new routes and the termination of others.

It would not be possible, therefore, to provide the detailed information sought by the Deputy. However, I would like to emphasise that there has been no change in the criteria for the provision of school transport facilities or increase in school transport charges in the last two years.
