Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - Inheritance Tax.

Donal Carey

Question:

103 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Finance the cost in a full year of adjusting the threshold for inheritance tax in line with the increase in the cost of living index as adjusted each year since the introduction of the legislation.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the cost in a full year of adjusting the thresholds of inheritance tax and gift tax on the basis of the change in the Consumer Price Index between November 1975 and November 1989 is estimated at £15 million.
