Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Milk Quotas.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

134 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary will receive an additional quota under the disease heading; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of the decisions which I recently announced regarding the allocation of the 11 million gallons of quota, I indicated that I was setting aside one million gallons for certain special categories of producers who had suffered hardship under the quota system. I am establishing a quota appeals tribunal to deal with the allocations to these producers. Among the categories eligible to benefit will be producers affected by animal disease problems prior to 1981 and who did not obtain quotas from previous national reserves.

I will be making a further announcement on the details of the tribunal shortly.

Question:

135 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary will receive an extra milk quota under the new scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of the decisions which I recently announced on the allocation of the 11 million gallons of quota, the person named may be eligible to qualify as a small scale producer.

I have arranged for an application form and explanatory memorandum on the scheme to be forwarded to him.
