Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

136 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when headage payments will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

This applicant has been paid his 1989 sheep headage scheme grant already. He has also received a 70 per cent advance payment under the 1989 cattle and equines headage scheme.

His file is with field staff at present in connection with the inspection of his herd and if his applications are found to be in order following inspection, he will be paid the balance of grants due to him.

Brian Cowen

Question:

137 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a herd owned by a person (details supplied) in County Offaly has not been inspected to confirm his eligibility for an EC suckler cow scheme and a calf premium; when it is intended to do so; the reason a notice was sent to him from the local office on 19 January 1990, stating that his Department do not intend to inspect his herd under the 1989 premium schemes; if he is being deemed ineligible for payments this year; the reason for this; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not proposed to inspect the herds of all applicants under the 1989 calf and suckler cow premium schemes but this does not mean that the herdowner concerned is ineligible for premium payments. The position in these cases is that it is proposed to issue payments for each scheme on the animals on which grants have been claimed on the basis of administrative checks to determine eligibility.
