Question:

23 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Communications the number of persons employed by the IRTC; if he has any plans to increase the number employed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

(i) Five persons are employed by the Independent Radio and Television Commission.

(ii) Under paragraph 8 (2) of the Schedule to the Radio and Television Act, 1988, it is a matter for the commission to appoint persons to be members of their staff subject to the overall number of staff and their grades meeting with the approval of the Minister for Communications, given with the consent of the Minister for Finance.
