Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Private Investigators.

John Browne

Question:

37 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Justice the standards which are set out for private investigators; and the number, if any, who are licensed.

Private investigators, in providing their services, are subject to the general criminal and civil law. They are not required to be licensed or otherwise regulated by specific statutory provisions.

The position is, of course, being kept under review.
