Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cork Prison.

Toddy O'Sullivan

Question:

38 Mr. T. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons detained in Cork Prison at the end of 1989; if there are any plans to improve conditions in the prison in 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There were 241 prisoners detained in Cork Prison at the end of 1989. As a programme of substantial measures to improve the quality of accommodation at the prison, which was undertaken in recent years, has now been completed, there are no plans for further work of this nature during 1990.
