Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Business Expansion Scheme.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

99 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in issuing a decision on an application in connection with the business expansion scheme made by a person (details supplied) in County Louth, having regard to the fact that appropriate tax relief claim forms were lodged with the Inspector of Taxes, Dundalk, in July 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes wrote to the company's accountants on 29 May, 1989 concerning the taxpayer's claim for relief under the business expansion scheme. A reply to that letter has not been received. In the absence of clarification of the points raised in that letter the inspector is not in a position to deal with the claim.
