Question:

100 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in issuing a tax free allowance certificate to a person (details supplied) in County Louth who recently took up employment with An Post in Dundalk; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer did not submit a completed return of income to the inspector of taxes until 22 January, 1990. A certificate of tax-free allowances was issued to him on 15 February, 1990.
