Question:45 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will clarify the amount of grant approved by him for the CARC Centre in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10; and if he will give details of the conditions attached thereto.
I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 129 of 21 November 1989 in relation to the background to this matter. I recently notified Dublin Corporation that, in the interests of securing completion of this community centre with the least possible delay, I would be prepared to provide a grant of £80,000 on receipt of an assurance from the corporation that the building will be completed without further assistance from my Department. The grant which I have offered represents 50 per cent of the estimated cost of completing the centre and includes the amount of £25,000 referred to in the reply to the question of 21 November 1989.
