Vol. 396 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kildare School Accommodation.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

50 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties experienced by some parents whose children cannot gain admission to Aghards National School, Celbridge, County Kildare; if an extension to the school is required to resolve the difficulty regarding admission; if she will offer any assistance to resolve the problem; and if she wiill make a statement on the matter.

Aghards national school is one of three national schools in Celbridge parish under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin. Currently there is sufficient accommodation between the three schools to cater for all the potential pupils in the area. Therefore, the question of an extension to Aghards national school does not arise. The operation and review of a common enrolment policy for the national schools in Celbridge is primarily a matter for the local authorities of the schools and the patron.
