174 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if he is in receipt of a report on stress in nursing; if his attention has been drawn to reports that he has placed an embargo on the publication of this report; if he will authorise its publication; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
A report on a study on stress in Irish nursing has been submitted to my Department, which commissioned the study. In the course of the academic refereeing process, which is normal practice in relation to such studies, a number of problems have emerged which relate to the methodology employed in the study. Pending a resolution of these problems, which is the subject of on-going discussion with An Bord Altranais, it would be premature to consider publication of the report.
