Vol. 397 No. 3

Written Answers. - Energy Conservation.

Séamus Pattison

Question:

35 Mr. Pattison asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has any plans to introduce a programme of education and training in energy conservation and better energy usage on Irish farms in 1990, having regard particularly to the materials available on farms that have recognised uses as alternative energy sources; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Teagasc — the Agricultural and Food Development Authority — has statutory responsibility for agricultural education and training.

While Teagasc have no specific courses on the subject of energy conservation and usage, the topic is covered in all its long term courses and in short courses where it is relevant.
