Vol. 397 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cheque Cancellation.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

53 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a cheque for advance pay on a ewe premium issued to a person (details supplied) in County Galway on 29 December, 1989 was subsequently cancelled by his Department when payment of the cheque was revoked by a letter to the bank dated 1 February, 1990; and if he will give an assurance that the person concerned will be paid the money which he is legitimately owed.

The payable order for 1989 ewe premium advance of £5,890 which was cancelled is now being reissued to the applicant in question. As a court action is pending between the person named and an adjoining landowner in this case, I cannot make any further comment on the matter.
