Question:

78 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Finance if a refund of DIRT tax will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a repayment of deposit interest retention tax (DIRT) can be claimed only by persons who are over 65 years of age or who are permanently incapacitated by mental or physical infirmity from maintaining themselves.

According to the information supplied the taxpayer does not satisfy the above conditions and he is not entitled to a refund of DIRT.
