Vol. 397 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ashbourne, County Meath, School Project.

Nora Owen

Question:

165 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education when tenders will be sought for a replacement Irish language school in Ashbourne, County Meath; and if she intends providing a general purpose room in the new school.

The preparation of plans for the overall site layout for Gaelscoil na Cille, Cill Dhéaglain, Ashbourne, County Meath is in hands. The appointment of a quantity surveyor and structural engineer to prepare bills of quantities and structural drawings respectively is under consideration. The full tender documentation will be completed as soon as possible and the invitation of tenders will then arise for consideration.

My Department has agreed to the school's authorities' request to the use of a hall as a general purpose facility. It will not be possible to grant-aid the hall at this time, because priority must be given to the provision of essential classroom accommodation.
