Vol. 397 No. 5

Written Answers. - Post-Primary School Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

170 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if she will list the new post-primary schools which are at present proceeding through the various stages; the stage of the planning process which each school is at; the date on which each school proceeded to that particular stage; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The present position in regard to building projects in second level schools is that each such project is being reviewed in the context of anticipated pupil enrolments in the catchment area for both the short and long-term. A decision in each case as to whether the project in question may be permitted to proceed to the next stage will be taken when the review is completed.

The compilation of the information requested by the Deputy would involve the deployment of staff from other more urgent work and would not be considered warranted in the circumstances mentioned.
