Vol. 397 No. 5

Written Answers. - Rathkeale (Limerick) School Project.

Michael Finucane

Question:

173 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education if she will outline her proposals regarding the provision of a community school in Rathkeale, County Limerick.

A decision was taken in 1983 by the then Minister, to approve the establishment of a community school in Rathkeale amalgamating the two existing post-primary schools — the vocational school and the Mercy secondary school.

The architectural planning of a building project for the new community school has been proceeding within my Department. In line with all major building projects the Rathkeale project is subject to review in the light of the most up-to-date statistical data available.

Any necessary decisions in relation to the Rathkeale project will be taken by me in the light of this review.
