178 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the allocation from national lottery funds for the Regional Sports Centre in Athlone, County Westmeath; if an architect has been appointed for the project; and when work will commence on the project.
Athlone has been designated by Government as the location for a regional sports centre with a maximum capital grant of £1.5 million from the national lottery.
Discussions between my Department and the local authority are at an advanced stage with regard to the facilities to be provided and the arrangements to be made for the design and construction of the centre.
