Vol. 397 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation of Labour Court.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Question:

29 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Labour if he has any plans to locate a division of the Labour Court in Cork in 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The question of decentralisation of the Labour Court has been raised from time to time. The number and distribution of Labour Court hearings would not, however, justify the location of a division of the Court in Cork or elsewhere.

The Court held 856 hearings during 1989 of which 567 — 66 per cent — were in Dublin and 90 — 11 per cent — were in Cork. The remaining 199 hearings were held in different locations throughout the country.
