Vol. 397 No. 5

Written Answers. - Salmon Fishing.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

95 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Marine if he is planning any changes in the rules and regulations governing drift net salmon fishing; if he intends implementing the recommendations of the Salmon Review Group Report; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no plans at the moment for changing the regulations governing drift net salmon fishing.

The Salmon Review Group report contained a large number of recommendations. Some of these have already been implemented. The remaining recommendations will be kept under review on an ongoing basis having regard, inter alia, to the availability of resources.
