Vol. 397 No. 6

Written Answers. - Letting of County Kildare Lands.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

103 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if tenders in respect of the letting of the lands at Barrettstown Castle, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare were advertised on a national basis; the total number of tenders received; whether the successful tender represented (a) the highest or (b) the lowest submission; of the tenders received, if any were for a figure in excess of £100 per acre; if he is satisfied that the accepted tender was in respect of a sum which gave the highest financial return to the State, having regard to other tenders; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Lands at Barrettstown Castle, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare were offered publicly for letting by tender in the local provincial newspaper on 24 February 1990.

Detailed information regarding contracts entered into and tenders relating thereto are confidential and in the public interest it is not the practice of the trustees, i.e. the Commissioners of Public Works, to disclose same.
I am advised by the trustees that they are satisfied that the accepted tenders were in respect of sums which give the highest financial return to the trust fund, having regard to other tenders.
