Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Waste Control.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

249 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment if he has submitted to the EC Environment Ministers a draft of a resolution setting out a comprehensive Community waste policy; if he is in a position to press forward with a programme of specific measures for waste control and management within the framework of the operations of the European Commission; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The resolution in question was promoted by the Irish Presidency and adopted at the Council of Ministers meeting on 22 March. It calls for a programme of measures in priority areas of waste management in the Single Market. Consideration of specific proposals is now being pursued at Council level.
