Pat Rabbitte

Question:

281 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for the Environment the date(s) on which he received representations from Dublin Corporation seeking funding for the replacement of fire stoves (details supplied) in tenant purchasers' houses in the Tallaght, Finglas and/or Ballymun areas of Dublin; the nature of those representations; the reasons Dublin Corporation have not received any response from his Department on foot of these representations given that these stoves are a health and safety hazard and are being replaced in tenants homes at present by Dublin Corporation in the areas mentioned; if he will make available the necessary funds to Dublin Corporation for the replacement of these stoves in tenant purchase homes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An inquiry was received from the corporation on 28 March 1990 on the availability of funds for the replacement of these heaters in tenant purchased houses in the areas referred to by the Deputy. The matter is being examined and a reply will issue as soon as possible.
