Question:

343 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if an allocation for the refurbishment of Sandford Parish national school, Ranelagh, Dublin 6, is included in this year's Estimates.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 309 and 343 together.

I have approved a major extension to Sandford Parish national school, Ranelagh, Dublin 6, and it is my intention that the project be proceeded with when the necessary planning and contractual formalities have been completed. Sketch plans were sent to the school authorities in March 1990 to enable them to seek local authority planning permission. Because of the length of time necessarily involved in the remaining stages of planning for the project and the invitation and examination of tenders it is not expected that any grant expenditure will be required this year.
