Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Extraditions to Britain.

Jim Kemmy

Question:

37 Mr. Kemmy asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons extradited to Britain in the past year; and the total number of persons extradited to Britain since extradition first began between the two countries.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that their records show that, from 1 January 1969 to date, a total of 744 persons have been extradited to Britain. In the 12 month period ending on 24 April 1990, six persons have been extradited to Britain.

The figures for the period prior to 1969 are not readily available from Garda records.
