Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Winchester Three.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

76 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the action, if any, which he intends to take, through the Anglo-Irish Forum or otherwise, regarding the case of the Winchester Three, in the event of their appeal being turned down; and his views on whether a miscarriage of justice took place in their trial in October 1988.

As the Deputy may be aware, judgment was recently reserved on the application for leave to appeal against the convictions in this case. The judgment is expected to be given shortly. As the case is, therefore, still in the judicial process, it would not be appropriate for me to make any comment on it.
