Question:105 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if any changes will be needed in the operation of the exchange rate mechanism in view of German monetary union.

As the terms of German monetary union are still under negotiation, no definitive conclusions about the implications of such union for any area of Community activity can yet be drawn. However, at this stage, there is no reason to assume that the operations of the ERM will be affected in any way.
