Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Ballymore Eustace (Kildare) Church Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

113 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of previous correspondence in the matter, he will indicate if the State might make an annual contribution towards the upkeep of St. John's Church, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare, in view of the fact that the estate of Barrettstown Castle traditionally did so; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Barrettstown Estate is the subject of a trust. Trust funds can only be used for purposes which are specifically indicated by the trust deed. This precludes the making of any contribution for the church in question.
