Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Damage at County Donegal Premises.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

115 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the damage caused to coal stocks and machinery at a premises (details supplied) in County Donegal as a result of the breaching of an embankment wall erected by the Office of Public Works; if it is intended to compensate the proprietor for the damage involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works have not received any claim from the firm in question and in any event they would have no liability in the matter as the embankment is outside the limit of their works in the area. The commissioners have co-operated with Donegal County Council in effecting the necessary repairs to the embankment, damaged during the recent storms, in an effort to avoid further losses.
