Vol. 399 No. 2

Written Answers. - Gas Mains.

Richard Bruton

Question:

21 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Energy the estimated number of houses in Dublin which do not have the option of a connection to the gas network without further laying a mains; and his estimate of the cost of laying the further mains necessary to provide the gas option to all households; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is estimated that there are approximately 87,500 households in the Dublin area which do not have an option of a connection to the gas network without further laying of mains. The cost of laying the necessary mains and extensions to facilitate all Dublin households at present outside the natural gas network is estimated at approximately £60 million.
