Vol. 399 No. 2

Written Answers. - New Wood Processing Plant.

John Connor

Question:

32 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Energy if there has been any recent progress on the establishment of a new wood processing plant in the State; and if so, if it is Government policy to locate it in the north-west as per a Government announcement made some years ago.

The promotion of industry is primarily a matter for the industrial development agencies. I understand that discussions between the IDA, Coillte Teoranta and potential investors on the establishment of a new pulpwood processing industry here are continuing, but no decision has been made on a location.
