Vol. 400 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

110 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the information that was requested by the inspector of taxes from a person (details supplied) in County Cork in relation to a tax refund.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspectors of taxes wrote to the taxpayer on three occasions requesting him to furnish the following information: (i) to state if he was still paying mortgage/life assurance and, if not, to state the dates of cessation; (ii) to complete a return of income form and (iii) to furnish his wife's P60 for the year ended 5 April, 1990.

Question:

111 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer has had three separate employments since April 1990 and his tax affairs have been dealt with in three different tax districts. His tax affairs are currently being dealt with by the inspector of taxes, Limerick. His file was transferred there on 29 June 1990. Any refund of tax will be advised to him by that office on completion of an examination of his tax affairs.
