Vol. 400 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

125 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in paying the balance of headage payments to a number of farmers in County Mayo.

There were delays in these and other payments because of the late issue of applications following a High Court case last year and a policy of non-co-operation by some unions at the end of the year.

Some 98 per cent of the headage payments in the disadvantaged areas, including County Mayo, have already been paid. Most of the outstanding cases involve queries and they will be paid as soon as the queries are resolved.
