Vol. 400 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Garda Station Strength.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

158 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice if 11 extra gardaí have been assigned to Kevin Street Garda station, Dublin 2; and if they will be assigned as a result of a meeting (details supplied) between some residents of Dublin 8 and his Department.

Eleven newly-appointed gardaí were assigned to Kevin Street Garda station on 7 June 1990. These assignments were made on the basis of the Garda authorities' assessment of the policing requirements of the area served by that station and were part of a very substantial allocation of extra gardaí to the Dublin city centre area. As was promised to the delegation who attended the meeting in question, their representations were borne in mind when the assignments were decided upon.
