Edward Nealon

Question:

161 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí in each garda station in County Leitrim; and the number of clerical staff employed.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 160 and 161 together.

The Garda strength in County Sligo at present is 141 and the number of civilian clerical staff is four. The figures for County Leitrim are 129 and two respectively.

The precise allocation of Garda resources to individual stations is decided on by Garda management and is subject to variation from time to time in the light of changing needs and circumstances. It should be borne in mind that the resources assigned to divisional headquarters stations and to district headquarters stations include specialist staff and units that provide services on a divisional or district basis.
