Vol. 400 No. 9

Written Answers. - Gas Interconnector.

Frank Crowley

Question:

66 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Energy if he will consider extending the capacity of the gas interconnector in order to facilitate sales of gas to Northern Ireland.

The Interconnector Project Management Group are considering a number of possible route options for the pipeline which could afford the possibility of a spurline to serve Northern Ireland. Sub-sea surveys of these routes will commence shortly.

The Project Management Group are maintaining close contact with the Northern Ireland authorities with a view to accommodating likely gas demand in the North.
