Question:

56 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the present procedure and the criteria to be adhered to when applying for FEOGA funding.

The rules governing FEOGA grant applications in respect of investment in projects for the marketing and processing of agricultural products were changed by the recent adoption of EC Regulation 866/90. Such applications will have to conform to the requirements laid down in article 10 of that Regulation which briefly provide that projects proposed for aid be incorporated into operational programmes which must conform with sectoral plans, Community support frameworks and selection criteria for eligibility. Such operational on by the will be evaluated and decided on by the Commission. However, pending the adaption of the existing national arrangements to comply with Regulation 866/90, applications in the format provided for in EC Regulation 2515/85 will continue to be accepted and such applications should be submitted before site work under the investment commences.
