Vol. 401 No. 2

Written Answers. - Remedial Teacher for County Kildare.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

69 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if any school in County Kildare has been allocated a remedial teacher recently; the school or schools to which such appointments were made; when the appointees will take up their posts; if consideration was given in this context to the needs of the Crookstown and Kilmead Schools in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Deputy will know from a previous reply to Questions Nos. 162 and 163 of 29 May that of the 30 additional remedial posts for national schools which I sanctioned for the school year 1989-'90, one will serve a school in County Kildare.

It is a matter for the individual board of management to disclose that it has received sanction for such an appointment and to make the necessary arrangements for the filling of the post.

The position in relation to the two schools specifically referred to in the question remains as stated in my reply to Question No. 165 of 29 May.
