Vol. 401 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Cork School Toilet Facilities.

Michael Creed

Question:

70 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the present position regarding the proposed new toilets for Ballinagree national school, County Cork; if it is intended to have the new toilets built attached to the existing school; if there is a necessity for a local contribution towards the cost; and when it is intended to proceed with the work.

My Department's professional advisers in the district Office of Public Works have the preparation of the tender documents for the proposed new toilet block at Ballinagree national school, County Cork, in hands. These will be forwarded to the school authorities at the earliest possible date to enable them to obtain tenders for the works. It is proposed to link the toilet block to the existing building. Under the Rules for National Schools, a local contribution towards the cost of the works is required and the school authorities have been advised in this regard. As there are a number of factors outside the control of my Department, I am not in a position at this stage to say when the works will commence.
