Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - Fishing Boat Registration.

Austin Deasy

Question:

103 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine the reason for the delay in the registration of a sea fishing boat for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford, in view of the fact that all necessary documentation has been submitted; the date the application was received; the date on which the boat was inspected; and when registration of same will issue.

The registration of sea fishing boats is primarily a matter for the registrar general of fishing boats.

I understand that the application to which the Deputy refers is in respect of a first-time registration and that it cannot be processed until the person concerned has obtained a sea fishing boat licence for the vessel in question. In that regard a licence application is with my Department who are currently in correspondence with the applicant regarding details of that application.
The application to register the vessel was received in September 1989 and inspection followed later that month.
