Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - Low Sulphur Coal.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

136 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Energy if the Moneypoint generating station, County Clare now use low sulphur coal.

At present a mixture of low and higher sulphur coals is used in Moneypoint. Firm commitments have been entered into by the ESB to increase supplies of low sulphur coal. This will be a continuing process, on a progressive basis, as contract tonnage comes up for annual renewal and as existing stocks are depleted.
