Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Recruits.

Tony Gregory

Question:

152 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if the Store Street and Fitzgibbon Street Garda stations, Dublin 1 are undermanned; if he will assign new Garda recruits to these stations which are responsible for crime prevention in very difficult inner-city areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities assure me that the resources available to Store Street and Fitzgibbon Street stations are considered adequate to meet local policing needs at present. As already publicly announced, 34 additional gardaí were assigned to Store Street Garda station on 7 June 1990. The question of assigning additional gardaí to Fitzgibbon Street will be considered as further gardaí become available.
