Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Meath Hospital Staffing.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

230 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Health if he will respond to the application by the Meath Federation of the ICA for the appointment of staff to the breast cancer clinic in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, County Meath.

It is a matter for the North-Eastern Health Board in the first instance to decide on the level and range of services to be provided at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan. In line with current personnel policy, health agencies, including the North-Eastern Health Board, have autonomy to make appointments within approved employment ceilings and financial allocation.

I understand that the North-Eastern Health Board is at present in discussion with the project director of the Eccles Street breast screening programme regarding the provision of a diagnostic mammography service for women in Navan.
