Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - Travelling Families.

Nora Owen

Question:

21 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment the moneys which are being made available to Dublin County Council for the settlement on a temporary basis of over 100 travelling families in Mulhuddart, County Dublin; his views on whether such a method of settlement is satisfactory; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have informed the county council that I have no objection to the cost of proposed work on a temporary site in Mulhuddart, estimated by the council at £262,000. Approval was on the basis that the works are limited temporary arrangements to improve the existing conditions of approximately 100 families. These works may be funded from the council's 1990 capital allocation for the provision of serviced sites.
