43 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the details of the disbursement of funds from the EC Structural Fund on the national primary route N5 under the Road Development Programme, 1989-1993; the locations of the improvement works; and the amounts which will be allocated to Longford, Roscommon and Mayo County Councils under the programme up to 1993.
Grants have already been allocated to the local authorities concerned for 1989 and 1990 in respect of the N5. The major improvement works to be carried out on national primary routes in the period 1991 to 1993 will be listed in the operational programme for roads and other transport infrastructure which I expect to publish later this year following approval by the EC Commission. Future allocations for normal road improvements on the N5 will be determined annually having regard to the needs of the route and the competing demands of the overall network of national primary routes.
